Steven Cooper is a social entrepreneur and an emerging author who has dedicated his time and energy to helping those in need. His passion for community development fuels his innovative approach to topics ranging from Black history to social justice. Cooper is an advocate for social and economic justice and works diligently and prayerfully to bring down strongholds that divide the Kingdom across the fault lines of race, denomination, gender, geography and socio-economic status.

As CEO of the Visionary Leadership Institute, a consultancy, Cooper assists leaders with professional development pursuits.  Cooper also is Senior Managing Consultant of The Give Group, a consulting firm that strengthens the capacity of non-profits and faith-based organizations.  He volunteers for the Sam Houston Area Council of Boy Scouts and serves as the District Chairman of the W.L. Davis District.

He formerly worked in philanthropy serving as Senior Program Officer of the Foundation for the Mid South serving Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi. He also served as the Executive Director of the Metroplex Economic Development Corporation, an affiliate of the Potter’s House and T.D. Jakes Ministries, Dallas, Texas.  Cooper oversaw this faith-based economic development corporation comprised of Clay Academy, a Christian elementary school, a business incubator and business resource network, youth entrepreneurship program, substance abuse and mental illness treatment program and an adult literacy program.  Cooper also assisted Bishop Jakes with writing and research for national speaking engagements.  

Cooper served as the first African-American student body president of Mississippi State University (13,000 students) where he received two academic degrees in Industrial Engineering and Business Administration. He was later awarded an Azusa Scholar/MBA at the Regent University School of Business in Virginia specializing in non-profit management and marketing.
